What is Empatico? How does Empatico work?

Empatico is a free online social, emotional, and empathy learning platform on a mission to build a more empathetic world.

Empatico gives educators access to:

Video-meeting technology to connect classrooms globally. Our browser-based platform connects educators around the world through a matching algorithm, and offers them the possibility to connect their students through live video exchanges and file-sharing.
An ever-growing activity library to foster students' social, emotional, and empathy skills. Our activities are rooted in Empatico’s Empathy Framework, which is grounded in current research in education, psychology, sociology, conflict resolution, and communication.

How does Empatico work?

First, if you have not done so already, you’ll go to edu.empatico.org to create your free account and fill out a class profile.
You’ll explore the Community page and send out a few connection request to potential partner classrooms.
While you’re waiting to hear back from a match you can explore our activity library filled with over 85 empathy-building activities and decide which ones you want to use with your classroom.
Once you have connected with a partner classroom, you will chat with your partner teacher through the Connections page. You will talk with them, decide what you will do during your virtual exchange, and schedule a time for your classes to meet.
Finally, you will meet over a live (or asynchronous) interaction with your new friends!
